Holiday DIY: Gold Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. They're hands down the easiest bloom to work with when creating full, lush arrangements and I'm constantly filling my home with them. My soon-to-be mother-in-law recently pruned her hydrangeas and instead of tossing them, she kept the tops and let them dry out. I got to take some home the other night and decided to spray paint mine chrome gold as an accent to some of my holiday home decor.
Tip: try white paint for a snowball-like appearance.
I used Montana Goldchrome spray paint, it's the shiniest gold I could find.
Tip: Use a shopping bag to spray paint your flowers in for an easy clean-up.
The finished product displayed in a shallow bowl with branches from our tree.

Such a great idea! I love how it came out. I wonder how long they will last? I love hydrangeas as well. They are grown absolutely everywhere in the Azores, which is where my boyfriend is from!

What a beautiful display and such a fun idea to repurpose your old hydrangeas! I have lots of gorgeous dried hydrangeas arranged in pretty vases- I might try and give them new life with this trick =) xx Sal

Happy Holidays Samantha!

So happy to come across this! I have these flowers in my home but they feel out of season just dried. Great idea!
