Over the rainy weekend, I got a wild hair to have a fireside tea party with my girlfriends. It literally poured all day outside while we sat around my coffee table and snacked on sweet treats, mini tea sandwiches, scones (homemade, recipe to come!) and sipped tea and prosecco. I served two types of tea, one was a Christmas flavor I picked up at the Huntington Tea Room in Pasadena and the other I found while browsing Upstairs at Pierre Lafond called the Queens Guard—love the name. Here's a look at a lazy, girly afternoon that was just my cup of tea.
Antique tea cups.

Fresh cut roses brought over by a friend and mini sandwiches—cucumber, mint and cream cheese and classic PB & J.
Homemade chocolate chip scones, whipped cream, jam and lemon bread.
Chocolate chip Madeleines.
A pink Elizabeth and James dress and pearls.
Coconut cream cheese cake.
A very proper tea guest came with glittery gold gloves. She definitely won for best dressed.
Lounging by the fire.
Tip: add cranberries to Prosecco for a Holiday touch.

What a clever idea! I absolutely love that you had all the girls come dressed up for a proper tea affair. I might just have to borrow your idea and throw a chic tea party of my own. Can't wait to see the recipes!

Haha how fun! I love this. And it WAS pouring! I actually had a wedding to attend that day (it ended up being dry during the ceremony and cozily covered for the reception, so all was good); but I'd love to have spend time between that and this little shin-dig. Just darling!

Loved it! Could we have the Coconut cream cheese cake recipe?
So pretty!! I used to throw afternoon tea parties in Australia before school went back (with my teaching girlfriends) and it was so lovely to share sweet and savoury treats and bubbles before having to go back to work!!
I love your tea set! Do you mind telling me where you bought it or what brand it is? Thank you!
Stunning!
Such a cute idea - adorable.

The tea set was scored at an estate sale years ago :)
I thought so, it's so beautiful, is it stamped with any markings? I've been looking for a nice tea set for a while but I'm not liking the ones I find.
