I'm off to the desert this weekend for some much needed girl time with my mom who's about to embark on a dream vacation—drift down the Nile anyone? Since it's been at least four months since I've visited my favorite California getaway spot, I can't wait to grab a stack of magazines, order an Arnold Palmer, get a pedicure at the La Quinta Spa, soak in the hot tub, have a lazy brunch and do some shopping on El Paseo. Where is your favorite weekend getaway spot?

Chicago is always at the top of my list for weekend getaways. Since it's only a 4.5 hour drive away, I don't know why I don't make it more often.
I've never been to Palm Springs but it sounds lovely!

I'm so cold at home right now that this sounds so amazing! I love getting away to Santa Monica, it is always so pretty and serene there (San Diego too!)
palm springs is my absolute favorite california getaway....nothing beats the land of mid-century architecture....that perfect blue sky....the lingering of old hollywood everywhere and getting a tan in january...have a great weekend!
